OK where is Rob Dyrdek with the video camera when you need him? I missed my chance at 10 seconds of video infamy. Lizzy and I were working on the box we brought home. We cut a door in it and then need to flip the lid over because it was upside down, the first mistake. I situated the lid and we propped it up with the 2x4x12 and I went around the other side to shove the base so it would fall in place. Now I looked this over and did not believe the lid could hit my head, but I stepped a little higher for leverage and then she went. At this point the lid is falling towards me and was coming down where it would over hang on my side. I was too close to the box to duck, but I did. The other factor is my instinct instantly had me throw up my arms to block it. In short I got pushed off the step ladder and took a fall. Now if this would have been videoed it would have looked like the classic stunt cowboy scene, you know where he falls threw the banister and crashes to the grown. My feet where only about two feet off the ground and my banister was a garden fence made of 1x4 from repurposed shipping creates. My back came down across this and I crushed it. I had to stay still for a moment or two and access if any of the cracking was me or the fence, and then figure out which way to turn without hitting some now exposed nails. Lizzy freaked out; from the other side of the box it had to sound worse than it was. I do remember yelling for help on the way down and thinking it would take a few minutes to catch my breath once I stopped. I got up slow, Lizzy help dust me off and went back to finish what I started. I also cut the lawn for about an hour and a half after that, but we sat around the fire as it got dark and relaxed my old friend Pain creped in, oh I knew it was coming but thought it would wait until morning. I never want to fall like that again, I got lucky, but wish I had it on video it would be a classic.
