OK, you’re all gonna love this. You know I do marriages as my job. I’m an officiant. I love every single one of them, fall in love with brides, grooms, think they’re all beautiful – they ARE. But one I did a couple of months ago is worth writing about. The son of a good friend of mine in San Francisco came out from Minnesota with his fiancée to be married. They didn’t know San Francisco so I took them on a little tour of our prettiest spots the day before the wedding. I had written a ceremony for them, of course. On the morning of the wedding, I went to their hotel. They’d actually rented quite a large house in the Mission – her relatives had come from New Zealand – and we were all to go together to Muir Woods for the wedding. When I got to the hotel , I was introduced to the other guests and there were two girls there. I asked whose girls they were and was told that they were the daughters of the bride. I was told that Audrey was 9 years old, and Marissa 13. Both were just gorgeous. Marissa looked more like 18 than 13, and more like a sister to her mother. I asked the bride if they had a good relationship with her husband and she said yes, the girls lived with them and had a very good relationship with Alex. I asked the bride if she wanted me to include the girls in the ceremony and she readily agreed. The rest of this is on another posting... guess it was too long...
