OKADA MAN JUMPS INTO RIVER IN IBADAN. A middle-aged commercial motorcycle rider, Ismaila Isa, on Monday jumped into a river in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, leading to his death. The deceased, who plied Adegbayi-Alakia-Gate, reportedly dropped his motorcycle key on the ground and jumped into the river after a few trips in the early hours of Monday. The incident caused confusion among his colleagues, many of whom stopped work abruptly and discharged their passengers to sympathize with their deceased colleague. They converged on the bridge near the Lagos- Ibadan Expressway Bridge on Old Ife Road. Many of them wondered Ismaila’s reason for committing suicide. The Nation learnt that though men of the Oyo State Fire Service arrived on time, one of them who jumped into the river to rescue the victim came back without success after about half an hour. But a fellow commercial motorcyclist, a Hausa man, dived into the river and brought out the corpse within minutes. The Director of the state Fire Services, Mr. Oyekunle Kareem, confirmed the incident. He explained that the corpse was handed over to the police after recovery from the river.
