OKYEMAN YOUTH ASSOCIATION, DESCENDS ON PRESIDENT MAHAMA-REACTION FROM JOINT SOCIALISTS FORUM. .............................................................................. We the members of the above forum find distasteful statement issued by the Okyeman Youth Association led by Daniel Marfo Ofori Atta.Although our constitution guarantees our freedom to form pressure groups and Associations to express our positions on national issues,the same constitution and our own moral conventions guide this right with some responsibilities and duties.Going through the statement issued by this Association,we detected outright disrespect for the Presidency and leaders of our nation which is alien to our Ghanaian ethics and virtues. The galamsey issue within the Kyebi enclave isnt something new or first mentioned by the President,it has been one headache for chiefs and elders of the area including parliamentarians and government appointees,an issue which has gotten into the international media because of the vigorous approach to have it solved by the Okyehene Nana Amoatia.For sometime now,the Okyehene in collaboration with Environmental Protection Agency and other agencies have adopted various measures to cure this headache disturbing Kyebi and its environ. The President wasnt at Kyebi to ridicule the Chiefs and people of the area but rather,put himself into the situation hence the statement he made,i dont think our politics has gotten to the thug of war situation where leaders arent able to use common humorous phrases to make situations look normal to invite dispassionate discussion.We must understand that,Kyebi isnt a Republic of its own any negative reaction or activity in the area is likely to have enormous effect on the nation and governance,if any disaster happens at these galamsey areas,it wouldnt be treated as Kyebi issue,but would be captured as national disaster.The Okyeman Youth Association ought to have deligently gone through their statement before situating it within the media,as it is now,it sounds more political than anything else and unfortunately coming from a group whose desire ought to have been,fighting to protect the youth of the area and prosperity,their statement,apart from the political twist,support the depletion of the Kyebi earth of mineral resources bestowed on the people by God which must be exploited deligently.Reading through our historical records,one would see the great efforts by Kyebi Chiefs in our contemporary national issues,it wasnt for nothing that Nana Ofori Atta received the title Sir from the Queen of England,we think the current Okyehene is also playing his part to support his predecessors so for some group of youngmen to allow partisan politics to inform their decisions on serious Okyeman issues could only be deemed unfornate.The youth is no more concerned about the lack of social amenities in their area,but have the extra ordinary penchant to serve the self centered agenda of some politicians.The water provided by government to better life at Kyebi isnt a relevant issue,but that statement by the President which represent the reality on the ground is an important issue to unnecessarily cover that tremendous effort by the government. We herein call on the Okyeman Youth Association to immediately render an unqualified apology to the Presidency for that reckless statement which does not represent anything but,political hallucination and mischievous inclinations.
