OLA E SIPOTI FAKAKOLISI - 2014 Sports Toloa and Tupou High School dominate Athletics Competition Thursday, April 24, 2014 - 17:00 Nukualofa, Tonga Two Methodist schools, Tupou College Toloa and Tupou High School have dominated the medal tally for this year’s Tonga national inter-school athletics competition. Tupou High School topped the girl’s medal tally winning 21 Gold medals, 8 Silver medals and 13 Bronze medals. Queen Salote College was second with 14 Gold medals, 16 Silver medals and Bronze medals. Tupou College (Toloa) dominated the boy’s medal tally with a total of 60 medals (22 gold, 26 Silver, 12 Bronze). Tonga College (‘Atele) was second with a total of 33 medals (22 Gold, 3 Silver, 8 Bronze). Marist ‘Apifo’ou Club topped the club-level competition with 16 medals, ahead of Mo’unga‘olive College, which had 9 medals. Two boys from the competition have been announced to compete for Tonga at this year’s Commonwealth Games. The athletes are Heamatangi Tu’ivai from the Mo’unga’olive Club and Siueni Filimone from Tupou College. Heamatangi Tu’ivai set a new competition record after completing the 400 metre event in 49.58 seconds, smashing the previous record of 51.33 seconds. Boys Medal Tally 1.
