OLABISI ONABANJO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT LEAGUE OF FACULTY PRESIDENTS *WE REQUIRE RESPONSE IN 24HOURS ON FURTHER POSTPONEMENT OF 40% SCHOOL FEES, STATUS QUO ON SUG BUSES, AND REINSTATEMENT OF OOUSUG* Cowardice asks the question; Is it safe? Expediency asks the question; Is it politic? But conscience asks the question; Is it right? There comes a time when we must take decisions that is neither safe, politic nor popular but one that conscience tell us is right. -Martin Luther King Jr. ON FURTHER POSTPONEMENT OF OUTSTANDING 40% SCHOOL FEES PAYMENT It is no more news that the Olabisi Onabanjo University has recently extended the payment of the 40% of the tuition fees till 27th Jan. 2015, but we deem it fit to request for further extension of the grace period. The situation in the country is so lucid and clear, we are all aware of the political terrain which has been very harsh on us. Election is around the corner, and the tension has risen affecting so many things in the country. The Federal Government has set limits to loan, and our leaders took fortress in owing the serving civil servants. It is no news that lots of workers are been owed, our fathers and mothers salaries are been withheld by our leaders. We invite the school management into the same room of reasoning over the situation as we request 2weeks extension to enable all OOUITES pay the money. We however implore those with the money to pay up as soon as possible. ON OOUSUG BUSES There are strong indications that plans are ongoing to scrap the OOUSUG buses and switch to full usage of ACSODO buses on our campus. We however doubt the stand of the management If plans are ongoing on such issue. The SUG buses will exist as soon as the SUG is alive, we request status quo on the SUG buses. Our SUG buses remain inexorable. REINSTATEMENT OF OOUSUG Barely 19days after thousand of OOUITES were out en-mass to elect their candidate of choice all over the OOU campuses in the state, their hope to see them govern was left doomed as the management refuses to approve the inauguration proper. The management proposes to place a hold on the OOUSUG to set up an investigative panel which will look into the post-election speculation which has left students in imbroglio situation. There are rumours that plans are to stylishly proscribe the union due to reasons best known to the management and off campus agents. We reject and berate the oblique approach the university management is using. We regard this as an act of despot, and we are despondent about unavailability of Students Union on campus. we sincerely kick against this act, and we request an alibi from the management. We request for the restoration of our OOUSUG, as it remain the only platform that unites the entire studenthood. We give the management 24hours to restore our OOUSUG and bring normalcy back to studenthood. Any move to proscribe the Students Union will be vehemently and legally be resisted in any means necessary. We are intellectual who will never engage the management in physical tussle, but give reasons to reason from our perspective. We demand utmost sincerity on dealing with slated above issues as we give 24HOURS ultimatum to see to our plights. Long live OOU! Long live OOUITES! Long live OOUSUG!
