OMG, I had LOTS of fun playing guitar with Kim Martin Band tonight and the Water Wheel Saloon in Norco is an AWESOME place. I played there once in mid 2013 and it was a great show. At that time I had vowed to return and tonight was that night! I do plan to get out there and play again as the Country thing is real and if I can get used to wearing the boots, then I might end up playing more Country gigs! Tonight we played some Country and a lot of Rock stuff. It was VERY cool to see the same soundman from last year at the venue. The guy is solid at running sound and is also a cool guy. Kim Martin is an awesome bassist and vocalist, and the drummer Kelly on drums was rocking the Ludwigs big time! Those are very nice sounding drums! The highlights of the show are too numerous, but ending the night with Kim playing and singing Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath was a very cool way to end the night! I didnt play bad at all, and I kept it real and actually got a bunch of compliments for the first time in a long while! One guy at the end of the night was a guitar player and gave me a great compliment. He mentioned that the venue normally has Country style guitar players and they dont tend to veer off course much! He complimented my versatility which has a lot to do with the band and songs and Ive been playing with various bands and different versions of my own band. It was cool as he brought his daughter to the show and she loved it. She is a KMB fan! All the people were very nice and Kim has a regular following. I even got a KMB t shirt that I will wear next Friday at my own gig! :) :) And... yes, I plan to get out there again to Water Wheel soon as it is one of the coolest places Ive played at and Im sure my feet will adjust to boots.
