ON THE LABRADOR My grandfather had a schooner, he took down to the Labrador, he went down there every summer, to bring back fish for sure. My mother told me stories, about how lonesome they would be, and I remember he sent a telegram, with a birthday wish for me. The women all would worry, about the safety of their men, and about the work they had to do, till the men got back again. I remember Grandma watching out, from the hill above the bay, ‘cause she always got the feeling, to expected them home that day.
