ON THIS DAY IN BATH CITYS HISTORY: August 14th This day four years ago saw City’s return to the Conference Premier after promotion from Conference South and an opening day trip to Church Road, then home of Hayes & Yeading United. City lost the match 2-1 and Gethin Jones fired home from distance a late consolation strike (below). In 2007 we also played on this day in our first home match in Conference South after promotion from the Southern League. Eastleigh were the visitors to Twerton Park but this time it was City who were victorious, goals from Jim Rollo (below) and Darren Edwards earned us a 2-0 win. The first match of the 2004-05 season saw City beat Banbury United 2-1 thanks to Steve Tweddle and John Williams. Graham Colbourne and Scott Walker were on hand to earn City an opening day win over Burton Albion in 1999. A John Mitten goal in 1971 was enough to defeat Guildford City for another opening day 3 points while Ian Henderson and John Allen (2) helped us to a 3-1 win at Merthyr Tydfil in 1968. #OnThisDay #BathCity125
