ON THIS DAY IN MOTORSPORT - JUNE 18 (with thanks to racing-reference.info) BIRTHS:||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| * Frank Rebel Mundy (born June 18, 1918 in Atlanta, Georgia as Francisco Eduardo Menendez – died May 15, 2009) - competed in the American Automobile Association (AAA) stock cars, winning the 1955 national championship and won three races in NASCARs Grand National (now Sprint Cup Series) * Denis Clive Denny Hulme, OBE (18 June 1936 – 4 October 1992) - 1967 Formula One World Champion for the Brabham team. He also finished third in the overall standing in 1968 and 1972. Hulmes died by heart attack, whilst driving a BMW M3 during the Bathurst 1000 in Australia in 1992. * Jeff Stanton (born June 18, 1968 in Coldwater, Michigan) is a three-time AMA 250cc Motocross and Supercross National Champion, winning the titles in 1989, 1990 and 1992. Stanton rode for Honda for the better part of his career, earning all of his championships with them. Before team Honda, he rode a Yamaha as a privateer. He retired from professional motocross in 1994.
