ONE FAITH, ONE BODY, ONE VOICE: Time To Close Our Ranks The quest to shake off the tyranny of poverty Pursuing vain mammon To prove that the church rat no longer is poor Have waxed our hearts cold Towards the real essence of our faith. Search the scriptures, search your hearts Evaluate your stand to know If in the faith you still stand. Now, the hostility cuts deep Even among the ranks of revered MOGs Denoms against denoms, parish pitched against parish Competition hidden in the undertone Of self-serving sermons. Hear the Lord’s heart cry: “Father, make them one, even as we are one.” Why can’t we discern and see Satan’s age-old divide and rule strategy Unleashed from the depths of Sheol? Heed the wake up clarion call To close our ranks and wage the good fight Against the common enemy of our souls. The love that binds us is bigger Than the strife that embitters us. By our love, one for another Preferring the other above self Shall men know that we are His disciples. Not by our cathedrals, He no longer lives in containers Of chrome, glass and marble, But in the hearts of men. Not in our fashion statement They are simply vain coverings For our temporal earthen vessels Which Mother Earth will soon reclaim. Not in our congregational statistics Which in the end Every man for himself shall stand At the great white throne courtyard Not in our long and loud sermons Which are oftentimes empty vociferation That shut out the spirit of truth Hardly convicting perishing souls. Not in our accumulated acquisition Of passing vanities, What shall it profit a man (of God) To gain the whole world and lose his soul. To what end are these falsehood Upon which we lean so much While we have banned The real essence of our faith On exiled vacation. We have become as nothing Like sounding brass and clanging cymbals. What a consolation to know That the Lord has determined To build His Church by Himself But, will you in humble submission Give Him room . . . Or will you in prideful contempt Stand as the gate of hell Advancing private agenda To rather build personal kingdoms? Reference: Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, ‘Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.’ Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, ‘Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.’ Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, ‘Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.’ – Jeremiah 1:4-10.
