ONE FOOT IN MY MOUTH 14-15/5/14 No 11 Editorial:- Holiday weekend so quite a few inmates have weekend passes. These are in limited supply so you have to be quick to get one. Can be sold on for a good profit. Must not let the guards see this. When I was in the Navy, I was `persona non gratis` in Japan. It was just their way off imposing a little power. I went there 4 times and was never given a shore pass. There was one other in the crew with the same surname, so it was always first come first served. If I missed out I would climb over the dock wall. Just brings back memories. Around The World:- This Prince Charles , Putin affair reminds one of the old joke about surveyors on the border between Russia and Poland. They tell one householder that the border passes through the middle of his home, and he has to choose to be in Russia or Poland. The occupant says I could not stand another Russian winter. Sport:- Now I`m all for improvements in sport particularly as far as safety is concerned. The advancement in the commentators aids, allowing them to illustrate to us what is happening has also advanced. We have the instant replay, and the pundits endless explanations of what should have happened. Just today I briefly saw a glimpse of some tennis. The commentator explaining that the sound of the ball hitting one of the players racket sounded different to last year. He promised to have a sound comparison for us to listen to after the end of that game. I was riveted, not daring to move in case I missed this earth shattering, but obviously vital information. After much discussion they agreed they sounded different. I shall rest easier in my bed tonight. Word Of The Day:- RUGGEDIZED:- US, adj, equipment etc, made hard wearing.
