ONE YEAR DOWN THE LINE,DO YOU SEE ANYTHING TO SMILE ABOUT? ************************************************* It is exactly one year since Kenyans woke up on the 4 March 2013, electing the President, Senators, Governors, Members of Parliament, Civic Wards and Women County Representatives. This was the first election held under the new constitution, which was passed during the 2010 referendum. Kenyans had a lot of hope especially with the introduction of devolution which was not only to bring services closer to the people but also improve their socio-economic status in a conducive and adaptable political environment unique to each county instead,the Governors are determined to raise revenue within their respective counties through introduction of numerous, often punitive taxes,to finance their expensive lifestyles. What is very visible at the ‘mashinani’ is open, devious looting of public funds that were hitherto thought will be better managed if devolved to the Counties.Funnily enough,my county is not left behind in all these!!! We must say NO to impunity in all its forms without fear. Let’s all be the Kenyan “Umkhonto we Sizwe” (Swords of the nation). Let’s defend devolution!!!MY COUNTY MY RESPONSIBILITY,JUKUMUU KUU NI LETU SASA!!!
