ONE YEAR LATER Its been a year since the Storm. Such a devastating few hours. People lives changed forever. Close friends displaced. Some people lost everything they had. It reminded us all of how powerful Mother Nature can be. And how important it is to have good friends and family around you. Instead of dwelling on the negatives of that day, I want to put a positive spin on those events. I was proud to be a member of The Baldwin FD and so proud of the response and the actions of our department. It was a very busy few hours, days and weeks and the BFD went above and beyond the call of Duty. I also want to recognize the upstate Fire Departments that provided us assistance as we recovered. I was also proud to be a Baldwinite. Neighbors helping neighbors, everybody came together and offered a hand, a blanket, or a hug. Our Sanitation department was 2nd to none. Those men worked as hard as anyone around and kept up with the tumultuous task of getting rid of all of the devastation. And they were phenomenal. Although this is a dark day for our community, It is also the un-official start of my relationship with my amazing girlfriend. We both realized how dependent we were becoming of each other. Prepping her apartment for the storm, then venturing out with the FD for days. I still remember that hug when I saw her after the storm. I knew at that time She was the one. Its been a crazy year, but so glad to have you by my side. God Bless everyone affected by that storm, and I hope to never see anything like that again around here. God is love. Good day.
