OPAL COAST TRIP 2014 On 10 October we were lucky enough to visit the Opal Coast in France. We travelled to France across the English Channel by ferry and arrived at the PGL centre at around 5.30pm (French time). That night we walked down to the beach and played some games. The next morning we went to the French market and were set the task of buying our lunch in groups of five, spending just two Euros per person and returned to the centre to prepare it. That afternoon we visited a local snail farm and learnt about how the snails were kept and cooked before trying them. That evening, we visited a crêpe restaurant. On the Sunday we spent the majority of the day at Nausicaä aquarium. We saw a lot of different animals including penguins, sharks, sea lions and even crocodiles! That evening, the teachers organised a surprise disco for us which was lots of fun. On our last day we visited a sweet factory where we learnt how to make sweets and even got to try them! Finally, we travelled back to the UK by the Euro Tunnel. This was an amazing trip and we enjoyed it! The main highlights for us were going to the aquarium, as personally we love penguins, and also going round the French market to improve our French skills. Overall on this trip we learnt a lot but one of the key things was practising our French accents which was helped by hearing people speaking in fluent French to us around the market. We would definitely recommend this trip to others as it was an amazing experience and overall really good fun! By Elizabeth Wells and Charlotte Wells
