OPEN CALL - Makers & Illustrators Manchester Craft & Design Centre (MCDC) is very excited to announce it’s first ever open call. To celebrate The Manchester Weekender and our current exhibition ‘Forming Words’, you are invited to submit your illustrations and designs for our ‘Forming Words Alphabet’. We’re looking for 26 artists for this exclusive exhibition at MCDC which will run for the duration of the annual Manchester Weekender – where our visitors can expect a weekend of fantastic acoustic music, design, and all round crafty goodness. Your deadline is 12pm on Monday the 2th of September. Please send up to 3 images of your work along with up to 50 words why you’d like to be part of our Weekender celebrations to exhibitions@craftanddesign. If you are successful, we will contact you by Monday 9th September, assign you your unique letter, and let the magic begin. All work must be delivered to MCDC by 5pm on Monday 7th October. Unfortunately we cannot cover any postage or delivery costs to or from the gallery. ‘Forming Words’ showcases 17 international makers who have responded to all aspects of text – be it the meaning, message, or even the shape.
