Actively accepting applications: • Fronteras is actively seeking an Elementary Education Certified Teacher for an immediate opening starting November 2014. The candidate must have a valid teaching certification in elementary education and be highly qualified. The current position is for a second-third grade classroom. There are a total of 22 students in the classroom, with a split of 50-50. Fifty percent of the students are second graders and the other half are third graders. The educator hired for this position must be fluent in Spanish. Fronteras is actively seeking Spanish native speakers. This is a full time position with benefits included and a highly competitive salary. • Fronteras total enrollment for the academic year 2014-2015 is 247 students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade. • A student teacher will be considered for this position for the term of the academic year. The student teacher will be supervised by both the Fronteras’ administrator and the District’s personnel, and will receive daily support from Fronteras’ curriculum coach. Upon performance, a formal contract could be offered at the end of the year. • At Fronteras, about half of the class time is spent learning subject matter in the foreign language, partial immersion. The goals are to become functionally proficient in the second language, to master subject content taught in the foreign languages, to acquire proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the foreign language and to acquire an understanding of and appreciation for the Spanish culture.
