OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION (SOUTH PORCUPINE) – The South Porcupine OPP is in the midst of investigating a two vehicle fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning, on Hwy 101 in Bristol Twp (east of the junction of Hwy 101 and 144). Upon arrival, the OPP found a mini-van of unknown description and a school bus. Given the hour of day that the collision occurred, it is presumed that the school bus was not carrying passengers. A thorough inspection of the vehicle will be conducted once it is safe to do so. The identity of the deceased persons has yet to be confirmed. The collision is still deemed to be an active scene by OPP. Timmins and Mountjoy Fire Department personnel are still on scene. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and OPP Forensic Identification officers are assisting with the investigation into the root cause of the collision. Given the remote location of the scene, viable detour routes are not available. The motoring public is asked to not attend the scene as traffic congestion at the scene will hamper the efforts of emergency personnel. Media updates will be forwarded in a timely fashion. - 30 -
