OPPORTUNITY Social Service Manager The Social Service Manager provides case management services to help low-income Vietnamese families access information, services and resources such as educational information, housing, business and employment, citizenship to achieve family self-sufficiency. Major Responsibilities: • Interview families to ascertain the urgency of their problems, determine preliminary remedies. • Determine the familys self-sufficiency goal, develop steps to achieve goal through employment, micro-enterprise or housing strategy, and identify barriers to self-sufficiency such as housing, cash assistance, child care needs, transportation requirements, health related issues, etc. • Provide translation and interpretation when needed • Supervise two other staff members and volunteers • Manage ESL classes Minimum Qualifications: • BA/BS preferably in social work or related field • Fluency in Vietnamese/ English in speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing. • Understanding of Vietnamese cultural and community dynamics. • Excellent communication skills. • Is organized and highly flexible. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member. • Has experience working with the Massachusetts safety net system • Proficiency in basic computer technology skills • General office/clerical skills.
