OPSU: Dont Miss the 16th Annual Panhandle Area Art Jubilee! Released by OPSU Campus Communications Goodwell, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Art Department, Images Art Club, and the Oklahoma Arts Council are hosting the 16th Annual Panhandle Area Art Jubilee April 9 on the OPSU campus. The day will be filled with various art activities and the public is welcome to attend this free event. Not only will participants be able to view exhibits from art students around the five-state area, but interested individuals are welcome to attend demonstrations throughout the day. The demonstrations will include potters wheel throwing, assembling of wheel thrown clay pieces, raku firing techniques, pastels, watercolor painting, encaustic painting, computer animation, and photography. This years featured artists are Alex and Mandy Gregory. The couple each received their Bachelor of Fine Art Degree from OPSU in May 2003. Currently Alex is the Curator of Collections/Registrar and Preparator at the Amarillo Museum of Art. He also teaches ceramics courses at the Amarillo Art Institute and the Amarillo Museum of Art. Mandy is teaching ceramics courses at the Amarillo Art Institute. Together they own and operate a gallery/studio called The Object Gallery at Sunset Center in Amarillo, Texas, that showcases their work and the work of other regional artists. The Gregorys will be performing demonstrations throughout the Art Jubilee on Wednesday. Additionally, Alex will be giving ceramic demonstrations on Tuesday, April 8, and Mandy will provide workshops on encaustic painting on Thursday, April 9. All of these events are free and the public is welcome. Demonstrations will take place in Hesper Hall located on the OPSU campus.
