OPSU Rodeo Graduates 6 Team Members Submitted by OPSU Rodeo Team Goodwell, Okla. — As the college rodeo season has come to an end many student athletes on the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo Team have taken off their coveted red and blue vests for the last time. After putting in lots of hard work in and outside of the classroom, the rodeo team will graduate six members this May. Graduation is a bittersweet day. It is a time of happiness in respect to these young men and women who are moving onto the next chapter in their life; still the team dynamics will change once again as members depart. It is great to see these graduates step out into the real world and carry on the winning tradition lifestyle that they acquired at Panhandle State. The six team members that are graduating and moving on will leave behind big shoes to fill. The womens team will be graduating two members. Leading the way is Kashly Schweer of Garden City, Kan. Jeff Bertus, also a member of the 2013 National Champion Team, will be headed back to Casper this June as well to go for a repeat. Jeff will be earning a B.S. in Animal Science. Bertus is not exactly sure what he plans to do, but he does know that he will continue to ride bulls professionally. The next member will be greatly missed, Preston Kafka, native of South Dakota, has been an intricate part of the teams success. Preston will be receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Preston has always worked hard in the classroom and helped with everything that he could outside of the academic realm. Preston plans to also try his hand at the professional rodeo ranks. After graduation Brewster Guin will make his way back home to Lubbock, Texas. Brewster will be earning a B.S. in Agribusiness. Guin will also continue to ride saddle bronc horses at the professional level. The OPSU Rodeo Team will definitely miss these student athletes.
