ORION (India) - On the Banks of Rubicon (Progressive Death Metal, September 30th, 2014 (reissue), Transcending Obscurity Distribution) Orion dropped a stellar release, unexpected from an Indian band, in On the Banks of Rubicon. With the artwork designed around a graphic novel, the concept is visible for all to see - especially in the urban life of Mumbai. The music is surprisingly progressive, both brutal and melodic in turns. The song structures are impeccable and elegantly structured, with the songs averaging around seven minutes. Its no surprise that Transcending Obscurity India snagged the band for a label deal pertaining to the bands full length in the foreseeable future. Please check out the intricate, powerful and hypnotic tunes of this very promising band. The music should appeal to fans of Opeth and Cannibal Corpse alike - and probably a lot in between hah. The album has been reissued for better distribution just last month. The CD/album is also available in a great combo deal including the bands international quality merchandise courtesy TO label (check out the Bandcamp page!). The band has been nominated by Rolling Stone India for these categories when it was released - - Best band - Best album - Best guitarist - Best drummer Thank you everyone! Hope you enjoy the tunes! Heres some feedback received for this one so far - It will impress and thrill whilst maybe opening the gateway to an undiscovered world of invention driven metal in the band`s homeland. Be brave and go for it we say. - The Ringmaster Review (UK) 10/10 On the Banks of Rubicon is an album of top quality progressive death metal that provides something new with each listen. - All About the Rock (UK) 8.5/10 (A.A.T.R. approved!) This is a solid slab of death metal and one that proves to be progressive, melodic and catchy.- Metal Gallows (India) 85% What Orion offer is a nice dose of death metal thuggery with a more thinking mans grace and flair and On the Banks of Rubicon is the right amount of historical context, emotional candour and brutal musicianship. in short, the potential shown by this band is limitless! - Destructive Music (UK) 8/10 this EP proves that Orion are definitely one to keep an eye on. - Global Domination (Sweden) highly recommended! - Behind the Veil webzine (US) 8/10 Transcending Obscurity India Bandcamp - https://transcendingobscurityindia.bandcamp/album/on-the-banks-of-rubicon-progressive-death-metal Orion Facebook - https://facebook/orionmumbaimetal Transcending Obscurity Facebook - facebook/transcendingobscurity
