ORO 2015: APPLICATION OF POLITICAL ETHICS AND INTEGRITY AS KEYS TO REBUILDING TRUST IN OUR POLITICAL LEADERS COME 2015. NOT MONEY I recently came across an online article well-articulated by Hon Robinson Uwak, Member representing Oro Federal constituency in House of Representative Abuja, relating Akwa Ibom State financial statistics from 2007 to date, by his summation running into trillions of naira. That article got me thinking of the financial potentials of our beloved State. Like Scotland which is famous in the United Kingdom, for its firsts. The home of the inventors of the Bicycle, the television, the Modern Steam engine, economics (Adam Smith), penicillin, golf and logarithms to name but a few. In fact same with Oro Nation indeed Mbo waters, which quantum of fishes and crayfish, as well as playing host to ExxonMobil, Total E&P, Moni Pulo and Afren, Addax Sinopec, Universal Energy and many others marginal field operators are the producers of the Uncommon resources which thereafter metamorphose into uncommon revenues, as mentioned by Hon Uwak, which enable our beloved Governor Godswill Akpabio to carryout Uncommon projects in the State earning him the titled “Uncommon Transformer” both within and outside the State. To attain our potential and create an impact in Akwa Ibom State political history come 8th December, 2014 in the forth-coming Governorship nomination, we must sum up our individual attainment and come out with a collective front so as to be able to present an acceptable aspirant that will assuage the respect and honour of other components part of Akwa Ibom State as such attract votes cross board. Having individually assessed the candidature of Hon Chris Abasi Eyo as well as other potential aspirants from Oro political front in this contest, I would humbly submit that they are all good in terms of academic attainments, financial agility more so with a sincere desire to serve the Akwa Ibom State. However, the coming contest demand more than the above scale of evaluation used by me or any other political analyst who has taken time to study the unfolding political trends in the State recently, Hence the need to file in someone who will be able to integrate and reconcile the two political coalitions (The New and The Old bloc) in the State. Thus the needed candidate for this plum job must have either worked with the two political coalitions in some way or have a good cordiality with either of them in order to be able to champion the re-union of these coalitions for a better Akwa Ibom. It is therefore a vital action that needs to be taken to make the Akwa Ibom economy stronger and resilient to the cyclical shocks that are inevitable in a fast changing world. The success of that action will be measured by whether we Oro people see the growing demand for Oro 2015 as a needed political fulfilment for us to remain relevant in Akwa Ibom political family. Hon Chris Abasi Eyo is one man that has been tested and proven to be capable to this task, because he had work with the former coalition, and as well have a resounding political affiliation with the present political coalition in the State. As such he will productively harness the financial potential of Akwa Ibom State come 2015 to the benefit of the populace. Hon Chris Abasi Eyo known affectionately as the Prince of Bakassi worldwide is the key subject in Oro politic cum Akwa Ibom State. A modest but evocative exhibition of the personality of this Akwa Ibom political phenomenon would portray Hon Chris Abasi Eyo as a notable figure in historical retention of Tom Shot Island, (Effiat, Ikpotto in Mbo L.G.A) in the canal of Akwa Ibom State, in relations for a number of reasons. However, before highlighting those reasons, Hon. Chris Abasi Eyo before being placed under the political guardian of His Excellency Obong Victor Attah former Governor of Akwa Ibom State as the Commissioner of Information in the State, was an easy and simple, but vibrant, pulsating, energetic, above all outstanding broadcaster, enjoying the very job he knows best to handle even outside the mundane world. But as the issue of ceding the Tom shot Island (Effiat Ikpotto Ete mi) to Cross River State became obvious, Hon Chris Abasi Eyo without any financial inducement chose to single-handedly champion the course of Mbo to a large extent the course of Akwa Ibom in retaining the disputed Tom Shot Island in Mbo Akwa Ibom State. He took it upon himself through his radio programme to enlighten the diplomatic world and the good people of Nigeria as well Akwa Ibom of the impending danger (economic risk) if the Tom Shot Island is ceded to Cross River State, given its economic potentials and Effiat Ikpotto cum Mbo heritage. With the State apparatus at his disposal Hon. Chris Abasi Eyo fought hardheartedly the course of Oro, indeed the Akwa Ibom State, this was why His Excellency Obong Victor Attah joined other of his admirers to christen him, ‘The Prince of Bakassi’. More so it was not that easy, glowing or toothsome for Captain Sam Enwang in 2007 to have identified the potential and vibrancy of Hon Chris Abasi Eyo and chose him of all Oro sons and daughters to deputise him in the opposition party. In my opinion it was a good political adventure for him to have decided to deputise Captain Sam Enwang, because that appointment assisted him to know and erudite about the two coalitions that are associated with Akwa Ibom State politics. The challenges faced by him in 2007 was to prepare him for the great task of governing the State in 2015 and beyond. In 2011 when President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s campaign landed Akwa Ibom State Stadium, we all witnessed the fact that it was again only Hon Chris Abasi Eyo of all Sons and Daughters of Oro Nation that was chosen to speak at the campaign rally in Uyo, which his articulations and words construct earned him both President Goodluck Jonathan’s and His Excellency Governor Goodswill Akpabio’ and undeniably the entire nation’s admiration. To buttress the earlier point made, Hon Chris Abasi Eyo has assured all in Akwa Ibom in his speech that with his experience, opposition party cannot win Governorship election in Akwa Ibom State. As such let us not be afraid of APC, Labour or whatever name they are called, they cannot win in Akwa Ibom State. In conclusion “Oro Edika” meaning it is the turn of Oro in relations to occupancy of Hilltop mansion; YES I agreed completely. However, how would this be accomplish, if Oro Nation do not harness the various potentials of all the Governorship aspirants from Oro extraction and resolved amicably to allow for a single candidate with the political potentials of traversing the two political coalitions. It is also expedient to equivocally state here that Hon Chris Abasi Eyo possessed the needed political potentials, qualities and efficacy as prerequisites to drive home the Oro desire come 8th December, 2014. Come 8th of December, 2014, we need to build that trust again in Oro Political Leaders not minding whether the individual is financially rich, after being damage, extinguish, and bastardised as a Nation in terms of denial of social and political infrastructures and respect to our heritage, more disappointedly the denial of the tripod arrangement by the administration of our beloved Governor His Excellency Dr Godswill Akpabio, CON. And the only one who can do this job for us with passion for Oro Nation as he has done it before is Hon Prince Chris Abasi Eyo of Uda in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Just One Vote for Chris will reflect the Changes you need Please Let Us Entrust Him With Oro 2015 Mandate. God bless Oro God Bless Akwa Ibom State
