ORO 2015 MOVEMENT Motto: For Peace, Fairplay, Justice and Good Governance Communique Sequel to observed unfolding high scale political manipulations and the heating up of the polity in Akwa Ibom State, aimed at distorting laid down zoning policy based on our tripod arrangement, the Oro grassroot political players had constituted themselves into a pressure non-political group known and called “Oro 2015 Movement” to ensure fairplay and justice. At a general meeting of the movement held on Saturday 26th July, 2014, the issue of the zoning of state governorship on the basis of senatorial district by the ruling party the People Democratic Party [PDP] and the seeming appearance that a candidate outside the tripod arrangement has already been annointed, and state resources put at his disposal for the governorship race was exhaustively deliberated upon. After the deliberations, the Movement resolved as follows: 1. Akwa Ibom State was created on the basis of a tripod and not on the so-called senatorial district. 2. The tripodal arrangement was the best approach adopted to foster unity, peace and equity of the three major ethnic groups in the state namely: (i) Ibibio, (ii) Annang and (iii) Oro. 3. This unequivocal stance/position taken by the pronouncement of the then Military President, General Ibrahim.B. Babangida was in recognition of the fact the three ethnic groups were the major components/segments that make up the area now called Akwa Ibom State. 4. That from the inception of the state in 1987, 27 years after it’s creation no single Oro man has been the State Chief Executive, whereas the Ibibios and the Annangs have produced six (6) and one (1) Governors respectively. 5. That the word tripod as defined in dictionaries refers to “an object with three legs that is used to support one another” 6. That if Oro is denied the opportunity of producing the next State Chief Executive come 2015, after the Ibibio and Annang nationalities have had their turn, it would amount to a declaration that the state no longer stands on three legs. 7. That in the year 2006/2007 when the then State Chief Executive, Arc(Obong) Victor Attah, a personage from the Ibibio ethic nationality from Uyo senatorial district was about to complete his tenure, he made a pronouncement that the Governorship should shift to Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district (Ikot-Ekpene senatorial district) and knowing that in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, we have people of both Annang and Ibibio ethnic nationalities, he pronounced that the turn was for the Annang ethnic nation, hence the present Akwa Ibom State Chief Executive in the person of Governor Godswill Akpabio emerged. 8. That the present State Chief Executive Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio should also replicate the gesture adopted by his predecessor, Arc(Obong) Victor Attah for the sake of goodwill, and for peace and tranquility to prevail before and after 2015 elections in the state. 9. That our brothers of Ibibio and Annang ethnic nationalities should show understanding and goodwill, and clearly support the emergence of Akwa Ibom State Governor of Oro extraction in 2015. 10. That all persons of goodwill should work for peace and unity among the people of Akwa Ibom State, as well as for all inclusive governance after the 2015 elections. 11. The stakeholders of 2015 Movement strongly request that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan [GCFR] should as a matter of urgency declare and run for his second term as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which is his constitutional right. God bless Akwa Ibom State and her people noted for godly disposition and good conscience. LONG LIVE ORO NATION LONG LIVE AKWA IBOM STATE LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. Signed:
