OSF--Condemns Munkombwes Remarks OPEN SOCIETY FOUNDATION PRESS STATEMENT RE: MUNKOMBWE’S REMARKS CONDEMNED As Open Society Foundation, we wish to condemn Hon Munkombwe’s sentiment at a UPND rally in Choma in strongest terms possible. In the history on our nation from 1964 ,the republican president is chosen by the people of Zambia regardless of tribe and regionalism of where they come from ,it is this in this vein that we find the statement that ……..“It’s time for a Tonga to rule”. trifling, retrogressive and out of place in the modern politics. We appeal to the politicians not to abuse the Mantra of “One Zambia, One Nation” by insinuating that Presidents should be changing based on tribe. We hold true to be self-evident that …Zambia belongs to all of us and any one from any tribe can aspire for the highest office of the land without prejudice and discrimination for one Zambia ,one Nation remains our cry. As Open Society Foundation, we are alive to the fact that promotion of sectorial, regional and tribal politics brings divide and unending conflict in any nation. Zambia beams as a beacon of peace in Africa and It is our position that Senior Citizens should not be mercenaries of war and cheap tribe talk rather they should be advocates of good governance by giving tiles and hope for good betters days and how we should develop our nation. It is our call to the youths not to embrace politics of anything goes in the hope of becoming POLITICAL animals whatever that means. Zambia shall remain peaceful and shall vote not based on tribe, they will vote for their preferred choice. Long Live One Zambia, One Nation.
