OT: Any Betta enthusiasts here who actually take care of their Bettas properly? Someone literally blocked me for telling her not to keep here Betta in a bowl xD Bettas should never be kept in bowls! And here is why: 1. Bowls are only made to be up to 1 gallon. Bettas need AT LEAST 2.5 gallons of space or more. Otherwise, their ammonia will kill them. 2. All fish need a filter and its impossible to filter a bowl. Therefore, the ammonia will kill them by burning them to death. 3. Nothing under 2.5 gallons can be safely heated. Bettas need a heater unless your house is warm enough. They are tropical fish and will become lethargic in water that is too cold. Heating a bowl is extremely dangerous and will kill the fish. 4. Bowls dont have lids. Bettas can jump, especially females and Plakats. They can easily jump out of the tank and die. 5. Looking out from inside a fish bowl gives a very distorted view. Bettas need human companionship and they cant see you through a bowl. The distorted view can be stressful also. 6. Fish bowls are small and can be easily knocked over. My two older Bettas each have a 15 gallon to themselves and my new guy has a 2.5 gallon.
