OU-Tulsa to Host Institute of Medicine Forum on Children Birth-to-8 May 7 COMMITTEE ON THE SCIENCE OF CHILDREN BIRTH TO AGE 8: DEEPENING AND BROADENING THE FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS PUBLIC INFORMATION-GATHERING SESSION Envisioning the Future for Children Birth through Age 8 in Oklahoma Panel Discussion 2 pm-4 pm May 7, 2014 University of Oklahoma-Tulsa Founders Hall – Schusterman Learning Center 4502 East 41st Street The Board on Children, Youth, and Families of the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council is undertaking a study on The Science of Children Birth to Age 8: Deepening and Broadening the Foundation for Success. For this study, a committee of volunteer experts is examining how the science of childrens health, learning, and development can inform how the workforce is prepared to seamlessly support children from birth through age 8. More information about the study can be found at iom.edu/birthtoeight. This forum at OU-Tulsa will focus on envisioning the future for children birth through age 8 in Oklahoma. It is one in a series of local public information-gathering sessions to be held in three cities in spring 2014. Several invited panelists will discuss what the future could bring to improve the care and education of young children and how the workforce can be supported to carry out the changes they envision. The public is invited to this session, which will include a moderated discussion period with the audience.
