OUR LRC CANDIDATES ARE COMMITTED TO SAVING BOROUGH HALL Our LRC candidates are proud of the fiscally-responsible stance Mayor Szekley took on Wednesday night--threatening to veto Councils attempt to preliminarily and finally approve the proposed Borough Complex project. Mayor Szekleys position is the direct result of his constituencys response to the project--whats the rush? Do we really need to spend 10 million dollars? Have all other possibilities of repairing the Borough Hall been explored? What are the other options? The LRC asserts that more cost-effective options have not been explored because several on Council and the Borough Manager are seemingly hell-bent on getting the project approved before the new Council members take their seats in January. For instance, the Boroughs leak issues are the result of poor maintenance issues--issues that can easily be remedied for much less than 10 million dollars. Specifically, the LRC has it on good authority that clogged down spouts lead to the misdirection of water, which in turn lead to leaks and associated mold issues. Down spouts can be unclogged and any alleged mold can be remediated without expending 10 million dollars. The LRC is neither asserting that certain improvements dont need to be done to the Borough Hall, nor is it saying that an improved police station isnt needed. It is saying, however, before Council votes to spend 10 million tax payer dollars, all options should be explored thoroughly! Simply put: Council should be no less frugal with the Boroughs checkbook than it is with their own personal checkbooks. Our LRC candidates intend to stand arm and arm with the Mayor in his mission to save Borough Hall. At Councils November meeting, join the Mayor and our LRC candidates as we demand that Council remain accountable to the Boroughs taxpayers and not vote on approving the proposed complex until all options have been thoroughly discussed and vetted. thereporteronline/government-and-politics/20131017/lansdale-mayor-szekely-threatens-veto-of-borough-complex-plans-in-last-meeting-at-old-borough-hall
