OUR WEEKLY BREAD, #16 Friday November 7, 2014 - “Be Transformed” by Raimond Kühlman Romans 12:2 - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. People copy. We copy methods that work, actions that can make us feel better, or people who are successful. We replicate proven patterns that our eyes have observed as fruitful in the world, in the hope that we will have some share of that tasty fruit as well. It is quite logical and a sound tactic. Up to a certain extent, it even works. But God is challenging us! In Romans 12:2 He is telling us NOT to conform to the worlds pattern. Instead, He is asking us to be renewed in our thinking. He wants to have His higher way in us, according to HIS good, pleasing and perfect will. And it is often not logical in the eyes of the world. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) Will you let Him? For this spiritual process of personal transformation to take place, it is required first of all that we die to ourselves. Or else how can a seed grow? Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. (John 12:24) It is only when we choose to die to ourselves - our earthly thinking, our own ways, what we want - that the Holy Spirit can truly start His amazing process of transformation in us. It is only then that we can truly start growing in Christ, and become the fruitful Christians we always wanted to be...that God wants us to be. Let us turn to God and change the way we think and act.
