OVERCOME YOUR OBSTACLES Published August 4, 2013 | Edit What is an obstacle? Is it something that is in the way? Is it an hindrance? Is it a setback in your life? It can be described as all the above. How does an obstacle make us feel when it is presented to us in life? Frustration Anger Irritation Pityful All the above could be used to descrive how we could all feel. Well recently I had to endure an obstacle in my life, that was a real challenge to me. I was out in my garden and was dragging a half bag of compost about 3 ft to bring it near to my pots. Within 1 ft of the pots, I tripped backwards and feel flat on my head/back and sat on my right arm. The consquence of this I fractures a bone in the wrist. I layed on my patio briefly in shock at what had just occured. Aware that pain was shooting out of different parts of my body, my head, my hand. I manage to get up and and my right hand, my strong hand was throbbing. After a short period of time, I was able to put some temporary protection over it. Within 24 hours I was at my local minor injuries unit. I had to wait approx 3 hours before I was seen, only because I complained about the amount of time I had been waiting. I was then ushered very quickly in to see the nurse, then wizzed round in a jiffy for xray, then fast tracked into the nurse with a quick consultation. I was told I had fractured my wrist and I was given the option of splint or caste. I choose the splint, for flexability and more mobility in my life. I felt immedialty emotional, my whole life suddenly was restricted. There was so much I couldn’t do, personal care was an issue and I had to be very patient with myself. There was much more restrictons, cooking, carrying shopping, house work, the list of chores was endless. However what was more challeneging to contend with, was the reaction of others around me. I was unidated with the negative responces to those around me , who had experienced something simular in their life. This started to affect me also on a negative level. I then decided that I had to take action. I started to look at all the great things that I was experiencing from this. My shopping was taken care of My housework was being done My grass was being cut My windows ere washed My carpets were cleaned The biggest factor, is I am GRATEFUL for my body.
