OVERRIDE STUDY COMMITTEE (Originally posted 6/12/13) The Board of Selectmen is seeking residents to serve on an Override Study Committee (OSC) that will analyze potential tax increases under Proposition 2 ½ to deal with Town and School needs, including School population growth. The committee will evaluate long-range population projections and financial projections, including impacts on the Town’s bonding capacity; the costs of and potential savings in various programs, including both mandated and non-mandated programs; potential efficiencies and future needs in Town and School operations; comparability to other municipalities; potential non-tax revenue sources; and the impact of potential tax increases on taxpayers. The committee will be co-chaired by Selectman Dick Benka and School Committee member Susan Wolf Ditkoff. The Board of Selectmen intends to publicly interview interested candidates for this Committee. Expertise in economic modeling, demographics, education administration, financial management, or construction/ architecture will be desirable.
