Obama had a lot to do today, fundraising, vomiting up his usual talking points about “rebuilding the infrastructure” that never seems to get rebuilt no matter how much money he gets, and babbling about Global Warming, and describing all his crazy plans to bankrupt the country as “sensible” and “common sense”. The apparent murder of 23 Americans when their plane was destroyed in the air over the Ukraine got a few seconds before he had to switch to the gags. When even Piers Morgan points out that you’re being unserious, you’re really being unserious. (Piers Morgan tweeted: “President Obama massively dropped the ball just now. 23 Americans killed and he says it looks like a terrible tragedy then back to jokes?”) But Obama doesn’t care anymore. He’s doubled down on the strategy of fake populism and turning out those parts of the base that go nuts every time you mention “birth control” and “immigration reform”.
