Obama took upon himself to ram through executive action for Amnesty for illegals immigrants sorely on the ground of getting them out of the shadow without seeking the public consensus and the Republicans wont lift a finger about it ( as we can predict ). After doing scores of my own surveys , i come to the conclusion that the US political system is rotten to the core given that a string of government shutdown during the past 6 years was a mere testament to the big partisan divide thats still looming large as of today .The Congress has been systematically yielding to the Executive for upwards of about 3 or 4 generations and it really got rolling in the New Deal, and became a full-tilt retreat with the passage of the Administrative Procedures Act . This has been a bipartisan dereliction of duty as the Congress has devolved to being a country club of 400 plus largely lamest reactionary demagogues whose only function is to preside, raise funds for re-election campaigns, feed at the public trough, and serve as gatekeepers for their patrons who think, rightly it seems, theyve purchased a stall at the trough by virtue of their contributions. The extent of their legislative energies is to spend money and have their staffers and lobbyists write reams of platitudinous prose have little import except to delegate actual law-making authority to unelected bureaucrats in the various executive agencies, now euphemistically called rule-making. Needless to say , the step Obama took to assume executive power last week over Amnesty was not that great based upon the decades in which Congress has meekly yielded to the Executive ( Remember Ronald Regan who exercised executive order on Amnesty back in the 80s ) . But the step was enough to eviscerate what remained of Executive restraint consistent with a government still restrained by the Constitution. I still think , unlike the British parliamentary system , the US Constitution is the brilliant epitome of flagship governmental architecture crafted by human beings. What they just lack are (a) elected representatives who take it seriously, and (b) an electorate up to the rigours of citizenship in a free republic .
