Obituary : Henry Willette Henry Willette, 83 FREEPORT -- Henry Willette, 83, of Freeport, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at a Portland hospital. He was born in South Portland, the son of Edwin Leo and Yvonne (Richards) Willette. Henry served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Henry invested in many properties in Portland. He was the first person to do any festivities on Exchange Street, doing horse rides during the 1960s, which was the start of the Old Port Festival. Henry also operated a candle factory which sold candles to many big name stores. He hired young people who were going through tough times. Henry served on the Portland Planning Board and was a Landscape Architect and Engineer for the City of Portland. He also owned a two masted schooner which he chartered out of the Caribbean He is survived by two brothers, Edward Willette of Westbrook, and John Willette of Virginia, and four sisters, Nancy Russo and Helen Fulcher, both of Connecticut, Rose Marie Shoemaker of Windham, and June Ouellette of Kennebunk. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Calvary Cemetery, So. Portland. On line condolences may be expressed at blasiandhayfuneralhome.
