Obituary for Jeffery Lynn Flottman Jeffery Lynn Flottman, 53, of Leawood, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Jeff will be remembered as a supportive and kind father, devoted husband, loving son and selfless friend. Jeff will be dearly missed by his wife, Dr. Lori Engelmann; his daughter, Jenna, and son, Garrett; his parents, Larry and Vernis Flottman; brother, Terry Gilbert (Paul Beppler), and sister, Marci (Rick) Stanwix; sister-in-law, Cheryl Engelmann (Mark Dyslin); three nieces, Erin, Kate and Emma Stanwix; and two nephews, Nick and Jordan Dyslin. He was born on November 10, 1961 in Independence, Kansas. Jeff grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School (1979) and the University of Kansas (1984), where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He married Dr. Lori Engelmann on May 29, 1987, and they lived in Leawood while raising their two children. Jeff loved to golf and always looked forward to his Saturday tee time with his group. He was a talented photographer and world traveler, but will be most remembered for his dedication and service to the many organizations and charitable opportunities that he put his heart into. Some of these groups include Avenue of Life, Hope Faith Ministries, Mission Trail Elementary School, Blue Valley North High School band and swim teams, Troop 10 Boy Scouts, the Country Club of Leawood swim team, and the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. At Church of the Resurrection, Jeff served as Head Usher (15 years), Lay Leader (2008-2011), was a member on the Staff Parish Relations Committee, traveled with the church on a mission trip to Russia, led several disciple bible study groups, and served as a delegate to the Annual Conference (2007-2014). The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Church of the Resurrection (13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224) in the main sanctuary with a reception to follow. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date at the Church of the Resurrection Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Jeffs family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Resurrection or Avenue of Life (PO Box 34495, Kansas City, MO 64116).
