Observing and documenting Chema and his family through the year of the corn planting and harvest in Guatemala is one of the most moving experiences I have had here. The amount of work is enormous but done with focused physical labor and a sense of real connection with the food this produces. Also I notice that the youtubes in this same category of corn show mammoth machines stretching across enormous expanses -in north america- this is one reason the US has lost most of its topsoil in a heartbreakingly short amount of time.
