Oct. 16 Daily Announcements: Updates from Sailor Stuff: *Columbus stuff is looking for a couple of trucks. We are moving into the school this weekend, Saturday September 18th at 9 am. It should not take longer than an hour to transport all the tubs and racks up to the school. Technology Survey: - All Columbus students were sent an email from Mr. Ulses on Monday Oct 13 with a link to a Technology Survey. Please take the time to read this email and complete the Survey. Thank you!! Seniors - have you applied to college yet? Do you have questions about the application process? On Monday, October 20, college representatives will be in room 176 from 9:00-11:30 to help you with your questions and help you apply to colleges. This is part of the Iowa College Application Campaign and the goal is to help you get through the college application process. If you would like to see a college representative, please get a pass from the counseling office by Friday, October 17 so we can plan for the students. See Mrs. Ney if you have questions. Book Collection box in the Main Office **The Cedar Valley Youth Action Council has recently started a literacy campaign. We are planning to collect gently used books and then donate them to local children’s organizations where we will be working with kids to teach them the value of reading and education. To collect the books we are placing donation boxes in businesses, organizations, and schools around the Cedar Valley. See Melanie Erazio White if you have any questions. CAMPUS MINISTRY: - Right to Life Club will meet Thursday after school in room 176. - Juniors, get your Kairos registrations in! Space is filling up fast! - Seniors, dont forget to take a look at TEC. This is a great retreat to help prepare you for the next steps in your faith life! GUIDANCE OFFICE: Stop in the guidance office anytime before the day of the visit to get a pass to visit with the reps. Scholarships -- Applications for the Kenneth G. Meyerhoff Memorial Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. This scholarship is open to any graduating senior, or students in higher education, and can be renewed each year. Deadline is March 3, 2015. -AXA Achievement Scholarship in association with U.S. News and World Report Enrollment is now open. Scholarships of $10,000 and $25,000 with a winner in every state, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico Deadline is December 15, 2014; only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted. --AXA Achievement Community Scholarship: Scholarships of $2,000 with up to 375 winners nationwide. Enrollment is now open. Apply by February 1, 2015. Only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted Visit axa-achievement to learn more about the AXA Achievement Scholarship and AXA Achievement Community Scholarship -- Mount Mercy Universitys Special Talent Scholarships - $3,000 renewable annually - for high school students looking to begin their University experiences at Mount Mercy. Opportunities are available in five areas: Art & Design, Music (Instrumental and Vocal), Theatre, Writing. These scholarships are available to both majors and non-majors. Students may submit their materials/audition at any time after they have been admitted to the Mount Mercy University. A special audition day will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Applications received by March 1, 2015 will receive priority considerations. You can learn more online at mtmercy.edu/talent. --The Iowa Newspaper Foundation offers scholarships for students preparing for a career in the newspaper industry. Scholarship awards typically range between $500 and $1,000. The application process is online and can be completed by visiting the scholarship application link on the homepage of INAnew. Deadline for completing applications is February 13, 2015. Youth Ministry News: *The deadline to register for the archdiocesan youth rally has been extended until Friday. The rally is Sunday, Nov. 2nd. Cost is $40. (The rally will be done in time for you to attend the Coffee Shop) *Ticket orders for the Tenth Avenue North concert are also due Friday. Tickets are $20. **See Annie Zeets in the high school youth ministry office to sign up for the rally and reserve concert tickets.
