Oct. 31 Learn to listen to Me even while you are listening to other people. You need the help of My Spirit to respond appropriately. Ask Him to think through you, live through you, love through you. When My Spirit empowers your listening and speaking, My streams of living water flow through you to other people. Be a channel of My Love, Joy, and Peace by listening to Me as you listen to others. What a rarity it is becoming in this age of technology to have a conversation with a person where you each are completely tuned in to the other. Both parties are intently listening to the other and responding appropriately. There is eye contact and heart contact. Todays text reminds us of the opportunity and the responsibility of not only tuning in and listening to the person who is opening up their soul to us, but also the importance of listening to Gods Holy Spirit prompting our thoughts and then our words of response. True, sometimes the other person just needs someone to talk to who will listen without judging or even advising. But that is also part of Gods prompting...when and what to say or when to just shut up and listen. The visual image that Jesus shared with the crowds of people is what we have available even to us: Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, Rivers of living water will flow from his heart. John 7:28 Dear God, open my ears to listen, really listen, and open my heart to respond with Your love...or shut my lips and keep me silent! Let my words and my actions be a blessing to someone today as they flow from Your River of Living Water.
