Hardcastle Farms in the Texas Panhandle is one of 915,000 cow/calf operations in the U.S. This fourth generation farm and ranch raises Red Angus cattle and helps contribute to the $44 billion in economic impact generated by the cattle industry. Texas, Nebraska and Kansas lead the nation in cattle production, accounting for almost half of all cattle in the U.S. It is often assumed that family farming is decreasing in the U.S. but current statistics indicate only 4.1% are non-family owned operations. The Hardcastle family is typical of the values, traditions and lifestyle that have permeated farming for the past 100 years. Similar to non-agricultural families, they are concerned about animal welfare, producing nutritional products, protecting the environment and providing for their family while raising the next generation to appreciate the fact that they provide what #agprovides.
