October 26 - Weekly News Another week finished in glorious sunshine at Rutherglen Bowling Club with Morris Wines sponsoring a social day of mixed triples. 8 teams took to the rinks for 3 games of 10 ends. Runner-up of the day was Col Malcolm (skip) Nancy Duursma (Third) and Lois Spence (Lead) and the winners were Garvie O’Bryan (skip) John Pearce (Third) and Val Pearce (Lead). The Midweek Pennant Teams had mixed results with Rounds 6 & 7 - Division 1 Ladies, playing two matches. On Tuesday they were defeated by Mansfield 61/63 and Thursday were defeated against Wodonga 51/81. Round 4 - Division 4 Open were defeated by Chiltern 61/78. Weekend Pennant - Round 4 all teams played Corowa Services with the A1 at home going down 67/100, A4 winning 107/53 placing them on top of the ladder and B2 won 119/61 placing them third on the ladder. Other matches played were Men’s singles - Chris Langdon defeated Keith Mills, Billy Campbell defeated Trevor Ronnfeldt, Colin Malcolm defeated Peter Nesbitt, Phil Peers defeated Ron Anderson and Ian Baskett defeated Steve Doig. Men’s Pairs - Ian Baskett & Russell Towner defeated John Ross & Matt Burges and in the Ladies Pairs Chris Flanagan & Claire Megarrity defeated Gwen Pearce & Jean Sims. Round 3 of our Get Bowled over in October Event was held on Wednesday night with a good rollup of new bowlers. The winners of the night were Ruth Weller & Debbie McMahon with Janine Marquison winning the raffle. In the Over 60’s singles semi finals, Murray Scown was defeated by Ashley Bates 9/21 and the Over 60’s Pairs Garvie O’Bryan & John Pearce went down by 1 shot.
