October 28, 2013 5:59 AM A spokesperson for a Washington, D.C. hospice acknowledged today his organization is providing end-of-life care for the GOP. The party, according to birth records, is 159 years old and is not expected to live past the 2016 election. Those monitoring the situation report the GOP has recently displayed grieving and mourning typical of a patient facing a terminal illness - denial, anger, depression, bargaining and finally acceptance. During the 2012 presidential campaign, Republicans denied their policies were no longer germane to a changing America and were overly confident of victory. Instead, a shocking loss was followed by extreme anger and hostility directed at the president, as well as many of their fellow citizens, whom they believed had no right to participate in the democratic process. Most recently, the Republican extremists tried to bargain away health care for millions of Americans in order to placate their narrow base, but ended up, instead, nearly taking their own political lives and having to accept a 24-hour media suicide watch. Of gravest concern was the GOPs earlier refusal to accept treatment in the form of expanding their political constituency by acknowledging the countrys changing demographics and reaching out to minority groups they have previously ignored - despite sharing many common values. When a patient refuses treatment, you know the end is near, according to the hospice spokesman, who stated that hospice is now providing palliative care focusing on quality of life and keeping the GOP reasonably comfortable and pain-free - at least until the next manufactured crisis.
