October 8, 2014 The Bay County Sheriffs Office released the preliminary findings of a shooting incident that occurred this afternoon about 5 p.m. BCSO Criminal investigators took a statement from a family member of the victim who stated the victim shot himself in their home on Highway 20 in Youngstown. The family member attempted to take the victim to a local hospital but while waiting in traffic at MLK Blvd. and 15th Street, the victim and the family member got into a physical altercation. The victim managed to force the family member out of the vehicle and drive away. He was stopped a short time later by the Panama City Police Department on Highway 231. This incident is being investigated by the Panama City Police Department. The victim is currently receiving medical care at a local hospital. The physical evidence at the home of the victim and his family corroborate the statement of the family member. The Bay County Sheriffs Office is not looking for another shooter in connection to this incident. The victim appears to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound. -30- Prepared by R.
