October first, and one can predict the excitement amongst most - TopicsExpress

October first, and one can predict the excitement amongst most Nigerians. It’s a day to cherish as our dear Nigeria is freed from the hands of the British men who enslaved us apparently. But is this actually worth a celebration with the vast, and I mean, vast problems circulating the country? Infact, anybody celebrating the Independence Day in my opinion is a clueless foreigner unaware of the predicaments the country faces. I wouldn’t elaborate on the ASSU strike issue despite being a worrisome problem, as I believe the end of that prolonged strike would have happened a while ago if both parties (FG AND ASUU) understood each other better. And they absolutely should have, if only we didn’t have self-centered and money thieving head hierarchies in both parties. Today, some people would happily step into their cars and drive to the nearest fast-food or excitement areas to have the upmost fun to mark the Independence Day, ignorantly forgetting that our dilapidated roads are killing more than Aids nowadays. The tragic road incidents on April this year would continue to loom in my mind- as I continue to mourn the innocent souls that died. Benin-Ore-road1 They didn’t deserve to die; they were ordinary citizens like us hoping to get to their various destinations. Maybe some also had plans for the Independence Day to, but unfortunately, never made it through. Agreed, I can assert that the Benin-Ore expressway mishap (which is actually the top of the brunch of accident cases for April) that claimed the lifes of over 100 innocent souls, logically had nothing to do with bad roads, but realistically, dilapidated roads have killed more than the astronomical figure from the Benin crash. Still, nothing changes. People have died due to incompetency from our failed government. Take a deep breath now. Dana comes next, Flight 992 that never landed at the proposed destination. Even though it was actually last year, it’s still something to take per-caution measures in other to avoid such mess. The president, during a media live chat started firmly that the Boko Haram madness up north is on the top list of FG’s priorities at the moment. And frankly, the aberrant behaviors of this Islamic sect are alarming- the rate of blood-shed is obnoxious- it’s clear that the animals in human skin are pushing for more than the Western Education. With frequent cases of Robbery and other related crime issues rampant, the security state in the country should come under scrutiny. Jobs are also unavailable. Youths have resorted to cyber crime and heinous acts as a means of living. All these problems aforementioned boil down to failed promises made by the Federal Government. The latest media session even made matters worse, as the president’s response was unhelpful. And with other new problems imminent, it’s sad to think of the state of the country in some years to come. As some of you would be reading these with a cheerful heart and about to go have mad fun, am in the comfort of my cushion trying to reminiscence those good times about our Dear Nigeria, cause basically, the awful times have created a void in my heart.#copied#
