Ode To My Honda by Bill Lugo Oh how you take me places near and far Youre my swift partner, my friend, most importantly... my car [ DELETE??? Many adventures weve had The journeys made me glad For you there is a lot of history With me thats certainly no mystery ] A Poconos trip on a single tank of gas Your mileage and camaraderie sure kicks @$$ Bravely trekking through those woods to and fro You are like my never-had bro With every passing day, with every needed oil change I think about all our journeys, good, bad, and strange All the rattling muffler parts that Ive replaced, All the Jersey inspections together weve aced I would never dare fill your tank with diesel [read in mild anger] That would be the work of a sick, demented wiesel Your transmission may be automatic but your engines never problematic Just wish I could afford hydromatics with those, Im sure youd be ecstatic Over a hundred thousand miles have gone by and no doubt there will be another hundred thousand more. Youve been so reliable and yet oh so pliable [read fast] AC, Philly, Brooklyn, Stamford, and some others Like a strong, open-minded, mechanical brother All those trips down the shore I always hunger for more Ill think of you when Im attacked by a shark, in Asbury Park ...when I choke on chilly, after driving to Philly ...when I feel like a used dork, driving through New York ...trying to body surf with the moons slight crescent, down in Point Pleasant ...when Im in drag looking pretty, in Atlantic City ...getting wasted whenever I could, partying in Wildwood ...driving like a hero, reaching Garden State Parkway... exit, zero. Even with all the times Ive forgotten where youre parked youve waited so loyally, and never ever barked. Ill likely cheat on you with some floozy named Rhonda But always remember, youll always be... my Honda.
