Desirable • Success in attracting external funding for research through either competitive grants or consultancies. The School of Humanities wants to recruit an academic to teach Spanish to non-native speakers and to contribute to the teaching of subjects on Spanish or Latin American Studies, drawing on his or her specialist discipline. The successful applicant will be expected to have and maintain a record of research excellence relative to opportunity, to participate in the School’s research activities, and to supervise honours and postgraduate students. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences includes European Languages and Studies (Spanish, French, Italian, Modern Greek, Ancient Greek, Latin and Mediterranean Studies), Asian Languages and Studies, History, Linguistics, English, Drama/Theatre, Media, Journalism, Strategic Communications, Philosophy, Anthropology, Sociology, Politics, International Development, and International Relations across 5 campuses. It is strongly committed to maintaining and developing its teaching and research capacity on Europe. Duties at this level may include: • Develop, teach and coordinate subjects at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels. • Conduct and publish research. • Supervise honours or postgraduate research students. • Contribute to the administration of the School. • Lead the School’s engagement to the community, in promoting Spanish and Latin American Studies.
