Off the coast of British Columbia, sunlight pierces through the water and dances off the backs of blue sharks. The sharks investigate our cameras on a @sea_legacy/@natgeo expedition with Paul Nicklen. Blue sharks are highly migratory, considered one of the widest ranging sharks and therefore require international cooperation for conservation. Listed as a near threatened species, 10 to 20 million blue sharks are killed each year in fishing activity globally, and they remain one of the key species used in the shark fin trade. Adopting more sustainable fishing practices that would see by-catch of sharks reduced is necessary for healthy oceans. See Sea Legacy for the full video.
