Officers in Newport are appealing for information following an attempted robbery which occurred at approximately 8.10pm yesterday evening, Wednesday 21st January, in an alleyway near Sandpiper Way, Duffryn. A 40 year old man was cycling along when two men blocked his path and demanded money. When the victim stated he didnt have any, they shot him in the face with what is believed to have been a BB gun, the victim fell to the ground but was able to get away. The victim attended the Royal Gwent Hospital where he required stitches and has since been released. One of the offenders is described as being white, 5’9” to 5’10” tall, of very slim/slight build, aged between 20-25. He was wearing a dark hooded top with possibly a cap underneath, and dark trousers. He spoke with a local accent. The other offender had a similar height and build. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have information relating to this incident to call 101 quoting log 436 21/01/15.
