Responsibilities: From Huntsville, Alabama, coordinate and oversee the work of an offsite development team located in Combatoire, India, including recruiting/hiring/training to establish the team. Work with both an offsite leader (Remote Team Lead) on a daily basis and the individual remote team members as needed. Work with local stakeholders to gather project functional and schedule requirements. Represent the remote team in all project meetings, planning sessions, and reports. Solely responsible for generating ROI from the offsite team. Leadership Skills: Experience with software development and management concepts such as solution architecture, schedule & resource planning, hands-on daily direction, scrum, etc. Must be detail oriented with a passion for delivering high quality, robust products Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills Must be fluent in both written and spoken English Basic fluency in written and/or spoken Tamil is a plus Must have an excellent work ethic and be a team player Must be comfortable multitasking, resolving competing priorities, and meeting project deadlines Must be able to gather and clearly document requirements such that the actual work can be performed remotely by an offsite team Must be a decisive, action oriented individual who learns quickly, works collaboratively, and creates solutions Experience working with small companies and start-ups is extremely helpful We estimate this position will require a 60% project management, 40% technical skillset mix Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a remote (geographically distributed) software development team including both technical and personnel responsibilities: Must be able to evaluate/critique/and train in the appropriate technical specialty Technical Skills: Minimum BS degree (MS preferred) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (EE also acceptable). Minimum 10 years of software development experience with at least 5 years in website development (server, database and/or embedded experience a plus). Experience with Python, HTML, CSS and Javascript required Further web programming experience (C/C++, Java, Node.js, Ruby, JQuery) a plus Experience with Javascript libraries – JQuery, JQueryUI, Bootstrap, etc. a plus Experience with both server & client side application code development a plus Experience with data pipelining, message queues, rules engine and performance optimization a plus Experience developing interactive, intuitive and low latency web applications (AJAX, Apache strongly preferred) Experience managing software development and software QA teams & processes Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word Experience verifying Web UI functionality against specifications is a plus. Experience with test automation and bug tracking utilities a plus. Experience generating software documentation as well as Web UI software is a plus. Experience creating icons and other graphics as needed using Photoshop or comparable tool is a plus. Additional Requirements: Must be able to travel on a quarterly basis for up to 10 days at a time.
