Often a Sufi will refer to the Divine, the Power that brings us - TopicsExpress

Often a Sufi will refer to the Divine, the Power that brings us here, as The Beloved, the Lover. (Think clear metaphor). Some of us are blessed enough to know people who love us this way as well. They may not voice it, like my husband Dale, but they prove it daily. And each of has love, for the Beloved is our birthright. That love is the ultimate gift and sacrifice.. In the words of the great Dervish, Rumi, it takes flight. And in the song of another great Dervish, Richard Thompson, it has wings. To me, this is the power and point of art. Any other definition is secondary. And I will try to never shy away from this definition when I am asked about Sufism and art. Happy Passover and bless this Easter week, people. I refer you to this song by Richard Thompson. Lyrics below as well. RICHARD THOMPSON – WORD UNSPOKEN, SIGHT UNSEEN LYRICS I must leave this tainted place Of slow and hidden pain By all and any means All the past I shall erase And never look again On child’s memories If you’ll have me, truly have me Word Unspoken, Sight Unseen I’m new-born to be your lover Word Unspoken, Sight Unseen Take my trophies from the rack. The medals from my chest The walls wash clean All my life is on my back And swiftness suits me best I’m travelling lean So I come to you a shell Make of me what you must And I shall bend What you need I cannot tell But I shall sweep the dust And patch and mend. m.youtube/watch?v=kx_TzwhYHnM
