Often people make claims that stir up a debate. While we do not to believe many claims we also enjoy using our critical thinking skills. Even on a personal status you may find someone disagreeing with what you say. Welcome to social media. So when I came across a status today I was surprised at the positive responses. So many pats on the back, likes and here here! A popular lad with over 5000 friends, people find it hard to disagree. The post in question://There is zero correlation between being the best talker and having the best ideas.// I think of the smart people I have read or seen on the internet, people like Sam Harris who is actually quite eloquent in his ability to get to the heart of the matter with sparse effective words and then I think of gum flappers like Deepak Chopra who is by far not the best talker. Isnt the content and veracity of what someone says the thing that makes them the best talker? Words and meaning are inseparable. It cannot be the most passionate speaker is the best because we would all be talking like baptist ministers, emphasizing random words for effect. It cannot be the most flowery and verbose or unnecessarily wordy. I believe Einstein said If you cannot explain the idea in simple terms you do not understand the subject. So someone who explains their idea(s) simply and whose content is insightful or brilliant would also be the best speaker. Thoughts? ~TNA
